In intensive plastic-covered agriculture, a series of parameters must be controlled for the proper functioning of crops, such as temperature and radiation.

Temperature is the most important climatic parameter to control within a greenhouse. To achieve this, it is important to understand the crop’s needs (optimal daytime temperature) and its limitations (maximum biological temperature, above which the plant cannot perform its functions correctly).

On the other hand, solar radiation is also a crucial climatic parameter inside the greenhouse. It influences photosynthesis, affecting both production and quality. Excess light can cause light saturation in the plant, but a lack of light can cause plant elongation or even flower abortion.

Inside greenhouses, radiation decreases compared to the outside. This decrease will vary depending on factors such as the covering material, its degree of aging, greenhouse orientation, type of greenhouse, etc. Additionally, the temperature can become too high for proper crop functioning.

The main tool we have to prevent temperature increases inside greenhouses is WHITENING.

With the help of the University of Almería, a series of trials were carried out to study the advantages of using our products. Some of the main conclusions from these trials were:

  • A temperature reduction can be achieved.
  • Reductions in overall solar radiation and PAR radiation can be obtained.
  • Higher concentrations of Indaloblanc agricultural sunscreen result in more favorable conditions for crops, showing a positive trend in both plant morphology and fruit quality and production.
  • Measurements of transmissivity values on the whitened surface show that long-lasting Indaloblanc products have high resistance to weather impacts.

In summary, the objectives achieved with our products are:

  1. Shadow intensity and uniformity.
  2. Resistance to rain and wind.
  3. Good adhesion.
  4. Good dissolution (no clumping).
  5. Low cost.
  6. Ease of cleaning.
  7. Does not crack.
  8. Does not cause blockages or equipment breakage.
  9. Slow precipitation.
  10. Non-corrosive.
